How to apply
The Different leadership programme has been created with one clear goal in mind - to empower the diverse changemakers who will shape the future of local government.
If you’re interested in joining the Different Leadership Development Programme and are from an underrepresented ethnic background, operating at the Tier 3 or Tier 4 management level, this programme is your opportunity to take your leadership journey to new heights.
Step 1
The Chief Executive and delegate discuss the programme and suitability to join.
Step 2
To apply, upload your CV and answers to the Application Questions document. You can find the questions here. When you're ready to submit, click apply and upload both your CV and your completed responses to the Application questions.
Step 3
There are limited places available on the programme. Our selection panel will carefully review suitability to join the programme based on the responses given to the application questions.
Step 4
Confirmation of entry into the Programme.
Not sure if Different is right for you or your organisation?
We are hosting a live webinar at 12pm on Tuesday 9th December for prospective Different delegates and sponsors from their organisation. During the session we’ll share more about the programme, the application process and we’ll answer any questions you may have. You will also have the opportunity to hear from some of our current cohort about the impact the programme has had on them personally and professionally. Please sign up below:
“I am really proud that Sheffield City Council have been one of the first Local Authorities to participate in the Different programme. Sheffield is an incredibly diverse city with a diverse workforce; but, like too many Local Authorities, the senior leadership cohort of our City Council does not reflect that.
Different has enabled us to offer a high quality, targeted and personalised development offer to two of our high potential leaders from an underrepresented background; both of whom have gained a huge amount from the programme, with benefits already being felt to the organisation in terms of the impact of their leadership in their current roles.
I am excited to see what they go on to achieve and look forward to more of our team taking part in future cohorts”
